Cuba celebrated the International Day of ICT Girls.

This April 27 was celebrated in Cuba, for the 7th occasion, the International Day of Girls in ICT, with the motto "Digital skills for life". Once again hundreds of women from early ages to adults met to promote the possibility of directing their studies and professions in the field related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), and thus there is greater participation and performance of girls, adolescents, young people and women in these spheres.

The Cuban government promotes equal access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Since the beginning of the Revolution, the country's leadership has worked to guarantee the full development of women in society, proof of this is the active participation of women, youth and girls in all development programs of the Computerization process of the Cuban society, which are in tune with the 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, among which are: Achieve equality between genders and empower all women and girls, this SDG that includes among her goals: Improve the use of enabling technology, particularly information and communication technology, to promote women's empowerment.

It should be noted that as part of the government's strategy, inclusive policies and programs have been approved in order to ensure the rights of women and girls, such as the National Program for the Advancement of Women, based on the rigorous observance of the Cuban State on the international agreements and commitments that support the rights of women, and takes into account the challenges arising from the evaluations carried out on the Plan of Action of the Republic of Cuba for follow-up to the IV UN Conference on Women.

Cuba and China sign agreement on cybersecurity.

Representatives of China and Cuba signed an agreement on cybersecurity today, which they ensured ratifies the will of their governments to work for an internet based on the development and well-being of the peoples.

The agreement was signed by the Island's Minister of Communications, Mayra Arevich, and Cao Shuming, Deputy Head of Cyberspace Administration of the Asian giant, in the context of a working visit made by a high-level delegation, headed by the Vice Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo.

During the day, the leader also discussed various issues on the bilateral economic agenda with the executive vice president of the China Development Bank, Wang Weidong, and the president of the Export Credit Insurance Corporation, Sheng Hetai. Likewise, he was received by Han Fangming, who heads the Charhar academic institute, and with whom he agreed to strengthen educational and cultural exchanges between both territories.

Cuba proposes actions to face threats in the information technology environment.

Implement technical assistance mechanisms for capacity building, based on respect for national legislation; in addition to establishing a multilateral mechanism to determine, impartially and unequivocally, the origin of incidents related to the use of ICTs.

Cuba proposed a group of actions that could help to face current and potential threats in the information and communication technologies (ICT) environment. In the fourth substantive session of the Open Composition Working Group on cybersecurity 2021-2025, which recently took place at the UN headquarters in New York, Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, Vice Minister of Communications, expressed that cooperation must be increased to confront cyber incidents, exchanging information that does not compromise the privacy of States with respect to their capabilities or contravene national legislation.

He highlighted the need to implement technical assistance mechanisms for capacity building, including those to improve the protection of critical infrastructures, based on respect for national legislation; In addition to establishing a multilateral mechanism to determine, impartially and unequivocally, the origin of incidents related to the use of ICT, detailed the website of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. Another action contemplates the exchange of good practices in dealing with cyber incidents, especially among Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT), to increase the operational capabilities of countries in the event of a cyber attack.
