The Cuban Minister of Communications chairs a meeting on the progress of the computerization program.

The Minister of Communications, Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella chaired the meeting with vice ministers and equivalent positions that attend to Computerization in Bodies, OACE and National Entities. In it, the computerization work projections for 2021 were addressed, in relation to government and electronic commerce and the strengthening of the Union of Informatics of Cuba. Regarding electronic government, he referred to advance in the implementation of electronic government, with a growing participation of the national industry of computer applications and services

University of Las Tunas and Desoft sign collaboration agreement.

The University of Las Tunas and the Computer Applications Company (Desoft) in the territory signed an agreement, in which important mutual cooperation agreements are established that promote the use of infrastructures, computerization of processes and postgraduate training. Yoenia Virgen Barbán Sarduy, first vice-rector, signed the agreement for the House of High Studies, while for Desoft, its director Yunior Agüero Rodríguez. The agreement favors the comprehensive training of professionals in related careers, the updating of teachers on modern technologies and the joint execution of research and development projects, thus turning the Academy into a high technology laboratory.

Desoft and its contribution to electronic government in Cuba.

With the recent publication on the Internet of the Quemados de Güines portal, Villa Clara territory, the Desoft Computer Applications Company fulfills its commitment to develop 146 sites of this type for municipalities and 15 for Cuban provinces. The company has been responsible for putting 87 percent of all municipal portals and 100 percent of provincial portals online to facilitate exchange between governments and citizens. Desoft was one of the first entities to direct its efforts to the implementation of electronic government in Cuba, that is why it constitutes one of its most important projects, within the digital transformation of the company in its software as a service proposal. The first steps were taken in 2007, when the Desoft Granma Division created an integrated “electronic government” system for use in the Provincial Assembly and the Government of that province. As a technology provider of the portals, Desoft guarantees the interoperability, sustainability, scalability and security of these sites and therefore is inserted in the value chain of the service that the government must provide to its citizens.
