Cuba participates in the First ALBA Digital Meeting

28 June 2022

Cuba participates in the First ALBA Digital Meeting.

The First Deputy Minister of Communications of Cuba, Wilfredo González Vidal, is part of the Cuban delegation that participates, this June 28, in the First Digital ALBA Meeting, which takes place in Caracas, Venezuela.

Wilfredo González Vidal, in his words, conveyed a warm greeting from the Cuban people and government to the Executive Secretariat of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), for the initiative of carrying out this important and necessary event and to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, host, as well as to all the member countries.

The First Vice Minister of Communications ratified, once again, the support, solidarity and firm commitment of loyalty to the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, especially to its president, Nicolás Maduros Moros. González Vidal, addressed in his speech aspects to highlight such as: Cuba is in a scenario of increased digital aggression. The monopolies of information and social networks have allowed the violation of their own policies, norms and procedures, allowing messages that overflow hate and violence.

These negative practices do not contribute to the sustainable development of our countries. In addition to the above, there are today campaigns of disinformation and distortion of the truth about our country, together with the criminal economic-commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US, which continues to be the main impediment to a better flow of information and a broader access to ICTs by the people of Cuba.
