The Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz inaugurated the Cybersecurity Workshop as part of the First National Conference on the subject that takes place in the country and pointed out that, faced with the scenario of unconventional warfare, our country perfected its legal framework and its organization , and created the National Working Group for Cybersecurity. It is necessary to permanently work on the identification and elimination of security gaps in infrastructures and technological platforms, as well as promoting a culture of security, raising the perception of risk and stimulating their responsible use.

That was the indication of Manuel Marrero Cruz, a member of the Political Bureau and prime minister, when he opened the Cybersecurity workshop, this Wednesday, as part of the First National Day that is taking place in the country on the subject.

He added that in view of the scenario of unconventional warfare, our nation perfected its legal framework and its organization, and created the National Cybersecurity Working Group, established in the Directive of the President of the National Defense Council, to strengthen cybersecurity. In the work of this Group, the main problems that affect cybersecurity have been identified and we are projecting and implementing solutions that tend to minimize existing risks, creating better response capacities that strengthen this field of action.

The Head of Government meant that Cuba identified cybersecurity as a priority for the nation, which is why it has been proposed to hold this First Conference, which includes central activities, sectoral events and broad popular participation, in the physical and virtual space.

Its fundamental objective, he said, is aimed at raising awareness and raising the cybersecurity culture of managers, specialists and citizens about the importance of this issue for the development of the country and its national security.

«Our country ratifies its commitment to building an information and knowledge society, centered on the person, inclusive and oriented towards sustainable development, in which everyone can create, consult, use and share information and knowledge to improve their quality of life.

"In addition, it defends the cooperation of all States and the democratization of cyberspace, as well as condemns its use, and that of the radio spectrum, for purposes contrary to the above, including subversion and destabilization of sovereign nations," it specified. He stressed that only the capacity for unity and integration will allow progress with the speed required to face the present and future challenges of cybersecurity in our country; and maintained that firm steps will be advanced, sure of victory.

The workshop is sponsored by the National Working Group for Cybersecurity – chaired by the Prime Minister – and takes place, for a period of three days, at the Integrated Technological Research Complex (CITI), at the José José Technological University of Havana. Antonio Echeverria (Cujae). The meeting was also attended by Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, member of the Party's Political Bureau and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces; Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, vice prime minister, and other government authorities.
