The member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Esteban Lazo Hernández Party, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State, received the accountability report from the Ministry of Communications to the Cuban Parliament, delivered at the National Capitol by the holder of the bouquet, Mayra Arevich Marín. In the presence of several members of the Board of Directors of this organization, Lazo Hernández highlighted the relevance of the accountability act as an essential principle of socialist democracy and pointed out that it will be carried out, not only before the deputies, but in its broadest sense. before the Cuban people.
“The National Assembly has this responsibility on behalf of the people we represent and you, as a Ministry, have that duty. This exercise should constitute a broad movement to strengthen the work, to promote the main tasks of the sector with the participation of all, as an example of the concept and meaning of People's Power. It must reveal where the potentialities are and identify the existing challenges, taking into account the criteria of the workers and the population”, stressed the President of the Cuban legislature.
For her part, the Minister of Communications stressed that they will present to the deputies what they have been able to do so far; aware that, beyond the results achieved, much remains to be done to fulfill the mission with our people.
He added that the aspects indicated by the Council of Ministers were incorporated into the report, while highlighting the extensive debate held with the delegates of 166 municipal assemblies of People's Power from all over the country and the provincial councils. “11,270 delegates participated in this process and more than 500 proposals were issued.
All the opinions contributed to enriching the final document and strengthening our work, with popular participation”, said Arevich Marín.
Esteban Lazo highlighted the importance of this exercise carried out at the base, with the popular representatives of the country's territories, where the fundamental problems and alternative solutions were also identified based on collective thought.
Also participating in the meeting were deputy Yumil Rodríguez, deputy head of the Secretariat of the National Assembly; Wilfredo González Vidal and Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, First Deputy Minister and Deputy Minister of Communications, respectively; among other managers. The Ministry of Communications will render an account of its work in the Tenth Ordinary Period of Sessions, of the IX Legislature, of the Cuban Parliament.
