The Computer Applications Company expanded its product catalog in 2021 and consolidated its leadership in the computerization process of Cuban society During 2021, the Desoft Computer Applications Company continued to consolidate itself as one of the leaders in the computerization process of Cuban society.

This was revealed in a recent meeting with the press in which managers of this company, with its CEO Luis Guillermo Fernández Pérez at the helm, presented the main results achieved in 2021.

Desoft strengthened its digital ecosystem and its software as a service strategy, focused on generating alliances.

It also expanded its capabilities in the foreign market, it was said at the meeting. Among the results of the year, the certification of Zoom stands out, the ERP (acronym for Enterprise Resource Planning) of the Cuban location of Odoo.

It is a business management system originally created by the Belgian company Odoo that was adapted by Desoft to Cuban legal standards and is now marketed through the software as a service modality. Based on this technology, Desoft implemented other products, such as the Automated Water and Sanitation Management System (Sagas), for the Aqueduct and Sewerage companies in the country. Also the Sales and Production Management System (Promac), for the Construction Materials Business Group (Geicon), and developed Fevexpo, the first Cuban platform for virtual and hybrid events

Virtual stores and the platform to offer ERP services in the cloud to micro, small and medium-sized companies are also included. Desoft also began the pilot test of a logistics management system for Cuban ports called Portecoos.

The deployment of the automated energy management system and the implementation of the fine management and control system also began in one hundred percent of the country's offices. Other advances in 2021 are related to the publication of the contravention payment service through Transfermóvil, and the migration and start-up of the Hidrocuba system.

Among other developments, the company created new websites for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, ONAT and Onure. Added to this was the presentation of the contract project for an International Economic Association, Information Technology Services Center, which will constitute the first foreign investment business of the Ministry of Communications.

Tamara Lis Velázquez Pérez, specialist of the Export Group of the Desoft Business Integration Division, said at the meeting that “our company has been transforming its business model, which supports a digital ecosystem.

We guarantee the resources and the interoperability between the applications, the accessibility to the services. The entities that converge in these systems can share common goals and innovate”. Fevexpo, one step forward Arianna Curbelo García, director of the Desoft Habana Territorial Division, presented the benefits of Fevexpo, the first Cuban platform for holding virtual (or hybrid) events.

From Fevexpo we commented in JR when the Forum of Entrepreneurs and Leaders in Information Technology (Felti) was held in 2021.

The software allows emulating, with all its features, a massive event. It has a lobby, stands, exhibition rooms, conference rooms, it allows live broadcasts, chat and the download of multiple resources.

“This is a new platform and visually we have a lot of things we want to achieve. That the stands can have a “free” design —now they are adjusted to a series of designs—, that they have a navigation map in the different rooms; new pavilions; visual statistics in a more friendly way for organizers, generate notifications, new product showcases.” We want the view of the stand not to be in two dimensions, but 360 degrees. Also develop virtual visits.

There is a world yet to go that will enrich the platform. With the characteristics that Fevexpo already incorporates in 2021, in addition to Felti, other events were held, such as the Productive Economic Conference, Sigestic, among others. This year Fevexpo will host the fair part of the 18th. Informatics Convention and Fair 2022, to be held in a few days in Cuba. It will also be available for the International Book and Health Fair for all.

a key workshop

Doctor of Science Clara Alonso Suárez chairs the Scientific Committee of the 6th. International Workshop ICT in the management of organizations, the only one of its kind to be hosted by Informática 2022.

According to Alonso Suárez, the event will have three thematic lines around knowledge management and innovation; the safe generation and exploitation of technologies; and digital transformation in entities. In the workshop, keynote speeches will be given and there will be round tables, one of them about the constitution of the International Economic Association between Desoft and the Spanish company People Walking. Meanwhile, 25 papers will be presented in virtual format.
