The Project: CMHS Radio Caibarién. La Voz de la Villa Blanca / Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, nominated in Category 16- AL C9, Media, after a voting process to opt for the 2021 World Summit on the Information Society Awards ( WSIS, for its acronym in English), has been selected among the five Champions of that category of line of action, this was announced on the website of the event wsis.org/prizes organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). This project has the general objective: to inform, disseminate the material and immaterial culture, history and human values of the municipality of Caibarién, Cuba and the World. Among the results achieved, the most valuable is the status of Champion Project of The World Summit on the Information Society 2020, the OX Awards for Latin American websites, several awards from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), awards for hypermedia journalism granted by the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) and the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), among others. In 2019, the project received 110,529 page views from 43,938 users. The WSIS Awards 2021 are outstanding international recognition from WSIS stakeholders as Winners and Champions for the excellence of their contribution to the implementation of WSIS outcomes, especially the WSIS Lines of Action that promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The WSIS Awards competition was organized in response to requests from WSIS stakeholders for an effective mechanism to be created to evaluate projects and activities that harness the power of information and communication technologies (ICTs). ) to advance towards sustainable development. Winners and Champions will be honored at the WSIS Forum 2021. Winning projects will be featured in the WSIS Inventory of Successes 2021 publication, and the WSIS Inventory Report 2021 will compile descriptions of all projects and activities that have been presented.
