Desoft in the Cuban press

26 March 2021 | For: Rebel Youth

Regarding the Cuban Press Day held on March 14, the Business Information Technology and Communications Group held a digital exchange with various media. From this fact, several works were published on the performance of the group, two of them in the Cuban Youth newspaper under the title Informatizar Cuba I y II. We extract the fragments related to the work of the Computer Applications Company, Desoft Electronic government If one of the entities that make up the GEIC is known, it is the Desoft Computer Applications Company, with more than 7,000 clients throughout the country. Desoft was one of the first entities to direct its efforts to the implementation of electronic government in Cuba, which is why it constitutes one of its most important projects within the digital transformation of the company in its software as a service proposal. Thus, citizen portals are today a web application that allows the approach to local government management, and facilitates the dissemination of updated information associated with all spheres involved in social and local development. The portals have packages of internal processes modules, such as Delegate Management, used in nine provinces and their municipalities - this includes four modules that facilitate the registration and control of all proposals, complaints and requests that a Cuban citizen may issue. , and enables its monitoring—, or the Population Attention module, used in eight provinces and their municipalities, which manages complaints, requests, complaints and suggestions generated by the people, through the creation and monitoring of files. The company has also created the System for the Management of the Electronic Programming Guide, e-progTv —it allows the population to know the programming billboard for television channels, including telecentres—; the Anúnciate Cuba website and the Executive System for Monitoring Organizational Strategies. Desoft's integrated platform for the computerization of society is based on two experiences in Cuba that were developed and deployed to solve the needs identified in the governments of the provinces of Pinar del Río and Granma, respectively. They were the development of the citizen portal of the Pinar del Río province and the management system of the government processes developed in the province of Granma.

Today, the Government portals of all the country's provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud are online and technologically managed by Desoft, from its digital ecosystem. To this is added that in 2020 the company fulfilled its commitment to complete the development of the 147 municipal portals contracted, which represent 87 percent of all municipal portals in the country. These websites are developed according to the parameters established by the Cuban Ministry of Communications and other governing bodies of the country, and the company accompanies the Government during all the stages declared for the implementation of this process, which are those of presence, interaction, transaction and transformation. Currently Cuba is going through the second. Exports In the case of the Informatics and Communications Business Group, Softel, Desoft and Solintel can carry out the export activity. The latter was also selected to import inputs to non-state management forms. The three companies can export the goods and services authorized in their nomenclator and, in the event that an opportunity not included in it arises, they request the export or import permit that corresponds to the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, according to the procedure. established for similar situations that occur in the daily life of companies, detail GEIC sources. Softel and Desoft companies have already signed contracts with non-state management and with companies abroad. Daisy Diana Vargas Vento, Desoft's Deputy Director of Business, commented in this regard that the company is organizing itself to not only represent forms of non-state management, but also to link up with them in export services. We have managed to consolidate markets like in Spain, he said. Desoft and the Dofleini Group, a non-state management form dedicated to providing custom software, providing expertise and technical support in business solutions, and engineering and development of computer products for clients, have several contracts signed in this regard. The first document signed between the two was made in October 2020. The specialists highlighted in the meeting that Softel, Desoft and Solintel have all their established procedures and geared their mechanisms to attend to all the requests that are received.
