With the launch of a new program developed by the DESOFT Computer Applications Company, starting in July it is expected that electronic payment for water supply and sanitation services will be extended to all of Cuba. This was announced today by Yunior González Núñez, vice president of the Superior Organ of Business Management (OSDE) Water and Basic Sanitation, during a meeting with the press at the headquarters of the institution, in addition to referring that this application will be deployed in 10 companies of the entity for commissioning in March, and the results will be validated in April. It also reported that the shops on the boulevard of the EnZona application will allow digital access to the cleaning services of the pits, the rubble, as well as the request for a connection to supply the precious liquid in homes that require it. . One of the novelties of this initiative is the transfer of responsibility between users, in which a client in Guantánamo, for example, will be able to pay for water services to a relative or close relative, he said. As advantages of electronic billing, González Núñez explained that it contributes to the reduction of the face-to-face form in commercial offices and increases the time available for management 24 hours a day. He also commented that it is intended that payments for these services can be made from outside the country. Four will be the alternatives for applications and payments that the OSDE Agua y Saneamiento Básico will currently provide for all users of the nation: in person, through the web, through cell phone applications and through landlines. In 2008, the collection of water benefits began in Havana through the Telebanca service and since 2019 its use by residents of the capital has increased. As part of the country's efforts to computerize society, the infrastructure has also been expanded to offer other basic services such as electricity, gas and telephony through electronic payment channels.
